Red Marans sold by Valley Farms Hatchery are a mix of French and American Red Marans. Meaning some may have feathered legs and some may not. Our Red Marans have been selected for uniform feather color and maximum egg production. Both male and females are a light red color as chicks. As they mature, the males will have a copper color similar to a New Hampshire Red and the females will have a red color similar to a Rhode Island Red or Production Red. You can expect 200+ dark brown shell eggs per year form our Red Marans.
