Delaware chickens are a classic American dual-purpose breed, originally developed in the 1940s. Known for their clean white feathers with striking black barring on the neck and tail, Delawares are both attractive and practical.

Hens lay 200–280 large brown eggs per year and mature quickly, making them a solid option for small-scale meat production as well. They are hardy, adaptable birds that perform well in both confined coops and free-range environments.

With reliable egg production, good growth rates, and a calm disposition, Delaware chickens are a well-rounded choice for backyard flocks and homesteads.
