Austra-White chicks grow into hardy, efficient laying hens known for their excellent egg production and adaptability. A cross between the Black Australorp Male and White Leghorn Female, this hybrid combines the best traits of both breeds. Hens are strong layers, typically producing around 220–280 large off-white eggs per year, making them a top choice for dependable production. They reach laying maturity early, usually around 16–20 weeks of age, allowing you to start collecting eggs sooner than many other breeds. Austra-Whites have clean, bright white plumage with occasional small black flecks, especially around the neck or tail, giving them a slightly mottled appearance. In terms of temperament, Austra-Whites are active, alert, and generally easy to manage. They tend to be more energetic than heavier breeds but are still approachable and do well in backyard settings. These birds are known for being hardy and adaptable to different climates, making them a reliable option for both new and experienced poultry keepers.
